PHP (web scripting language)

This Webel site is PHP-driven thanks to Drupal™ Content Management System (CMS) technology.

In recent years I have worked a lot with PHP for:

  • Dynamic web serving.
  • Development of Drupal™ modules
  • Customised Drupal PHP templates for custom Drupal™ types.
  • Substantial scripting for generation of an offline version of a Drupal™ site.
  • PHP-scripted SQL database administration and data migration.
  • PHP-scripted UNIX administration.

I command advanced and recent PHP features such as:

I am familiar with major PHP web application and Model-View-Controller frameworks such as CakePHP, Symfony and Zend

JavaScript

Webel IT offers complete JavaScript coding services, including use of the JQuery "Write Less, Do More, JavaScript Library".

We employ a wide range of PHP-driven Drupal™ CMS modules that integrate JQuery libraries easily into Drupal™ CMS web sites to provide rich web user interface interaction.

We also employ Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) technologies for efficient partial page updates.

In the Enterprise Java web application context, modern JavaServer Faces (JSF) and 3rd party JSF toolkits like Primefaces offer efficient means for leveraging JavaScript and AJAX partial page update technologies, controlled via JavaEE's backing beans (managed beans) architecture.

Perl

From 2000-2003 Perl was my primary internet language. I developed the object-oriented Webel libraries for dynamic serving, pre-empting technologies like XML and JavaServer Faces. The libraries were used for various DotCom ventures and for internet business presentations.

However, the lack of integration of Perl with graphical Unified Modeling Language™ (UML™) engineering is too limiting, and I now prefer Java™ + XML + UML™ for my object-oriented web and internet tasks, and PHP, mostly in combination with Drupal™ Content Management System (CMS) web sites like this Webel site of course. PHP now includes a lot of the regular expression search power of Perl.
