Every Parsing Snippet is a consumer of text for a source document known by URL, URI, ISBN, or by another unique source identifier.

This very Snippet is not yet really a Parsing Snippet, because it is being typed freestyle, right now, by Dr Darren; the source is in fact his brain, not an external document.

By contrast, a Parsing Snippet MUST be sourced from a well identified document, so the custom Snippet type in a Content Management System (CMS) must have URL fields, ISBN fields, CMS reference fields, or other ways of indicating clearly a versioned Document source.

Parsing Snippets are strictly "downstream" consumers of text form other documents, often authored by somebody other than the Snippet Analyst.
