It's almost impossible to describe just how much better VPSBlocks has proven to be as a Virtual Private Server (VPS) provider for Webel IT Australia and our clients compared with some other previous disaster experiences without sounding too effusive. They are by far and away the best hosting provider Webel has ever used.
They know exactly what they are talking about. That's worth reading again if you've ever had to struggle with call centres for most other hosting providers. They not only command every aspect of the technology, hardware, and internet protocols, they also know how people use a VPS, about the kinds of applications you may wish to run on a VPS, and go the extra mile with you and your clients to find suitable solutions. They'll even help you save money by explaining less expensive options (yes).
You get to speak during Australian business hours to an actual human being with intimate knowledge of their systems, whether by phone or web browser chat (not a bot).
VPSBlocks also now operate their Cloudlets service with Jelastic Platform-as-a-service (PaaS), including ElasticVPS. It's a different way of thinking about cloud hosting for applications, where you have the ability to configure your resources on-the-fly, and you can use fine-grained containers together on a secure internal network, perfect for RESTful web applications in Docker, or where you wish to have, for example, MariaDB in one container and your applications in other containers. You can easily build your own container stacks and combinations directly in the console (including rollout of most major web application technologies and databases).
Webel recommends Traefik reverse proxy (which VPSBlocks recommended to us) for serving of RESTful web applications using Docker:
So much simpler than AWS
Why "just" use a VPS or Elastic VPS cloud hosting instead of using Amazon Web Services (AWS)? Whilst AWS has its place, its impressively comprehensive technology ecosystem comes at the cost of complexity. AWS is massive overkill for many applications, and navigating the AWS infrastructure can be overwhelming and time-consuming.
By contrast, the customer consoles for a VPSBlocks VPS or Cloudlets Elastic VPS is much easier to use. The Cloudlets console is particularly powerful, and everything you need to access is in one place. You can tune and monitor everything easily and the billing system is also much easier than with the giant AWS ecosystem.
Best of all, you as customer/client can also easily understand and use the VPSBlocks console or Cloudlets console and have a greater sense of ownership of your deployed applications, instead of having to refer back to an AWS expert every time you want something relatively simple done.
