The OpenAPI initiative was developed in awareness of modern REST technologies and practical use of web services, and addresses to a large extent many of the shortcomings of OMG CORBA. OpenAPI has enjoyed a far more coherent and constructively collaborative specification process than CORBA, and there is far greater adherence to OpenAPI in implementations that poor CORBA suffered with its splintered history of competing vendor-specific implementations.
