With the move of Enterprise Java (Java EE) to  Jakarta EE within the Eclipse Foundation (rather than the Apache Foundation), it is unclear whether the NetBeans community (now an Apache Foundation project) will flourish.

Dr Darren of Webel IT says:

I have used NetBeans IDE for a very long time, and I have often preferred it over Eclipse IDE (which I also know very well) for many programming tasks, especially for Enterprise Java (Java EE),  JavaServer Faces (JSF), eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and XML Schema (XSD) work, and am very grateful to the developers. I hope it survives.

While NetBeans IDE has good support for PHP and even some integration with Drupal™ CMS, I now use PhpStorm IDE for most of my Drupal™ and PHP work.
